DID WE GET WHAT WE REALLY WANTED?
Back in my F.I.U. Anthropology class my Professor said Miami "was becoming the Old Wild West"...actually, he was wrong. The "Old Wild West" was actually BETTER. There was a sense of honor about your word;
there was a sense of Ethics in that most killings were directed at OTHER
inebriated gun-slingers & an occasional saloon girl that got in the way of it. There was VERY minimal violence from kids (except Billy the Kid who was a Psychopath by todays standards) because they were too busy WORKING. Almost unheard of was "ladies" or "proper" women being killed as it was dishonored and seen as cowardly.
Today...the violence is actually DIRECTED at the innocent!! Good grief, people...we are going BACKWARD! Ancient people would simply "give up" when Attila the Hun was miles away even tho they knew when he GOT there he would not spare most of them anyway! Isn't what WE HAVE
in America worth KEEPING?

I am almost relieved that my parents, Grandparents & all the way back to 1607 are not here to see what America has become since they fought and many died for it. The Divisiveness, the Intolerance, shallowness, Apathy
& Mean-spiritedness in all of us is pathetic.
We have TWO ways to go from here, as I see it:
It COULD become another "Enlightenment Period" in History where the "Dark Ages" gives way again to a renewal of Questioning, Solutions of formerly ignored issues using Reason & Open Debate and "allowing" of
our differences AND similarities with each other.
The "Dark Ages" were called that because there were NO innovations in
Health, Science or Religion for over 1500 years!! Illiteracy, witchcraft &
superstition ruled again. IGNORANCE is Dangerous!!
TODAY, the stakes are MUCH MUCH higher. The weapons are planet & Evolution-changing; we are slipping back to "pseudo-science", conspiracies and the darker "primitive" part of the Brain where Aggression & self-focus rules.
