ARE YOU LYING TO ME??
Birge-Bytes: Why do Americans lie, cheat, steal and kill? Why are you 7-10 times more apt to be a homicide victim here than most other countries?
Homicide is the 2nd highest cause of death for 15-24 year olds except for accidents. There are four reasons that come to mind:
(1) Americans place a very high value on INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS & FREEDOMS. Not a horrible thing...after all, it IS America. but it can supersede what is best for the welfare of the GROUP OR MAJORITY.
(2) Americans are extremely COMPETITIVE!!! To get into college...we cheat more; to get into sports we cheat with drugs; To get the career we want we back stab and cheat to climb over others in the way.
(3) Americans even set up "SPECIAL PLACES" for violence. Football games, boxing matches, bars, concerts; some actually go there "looking" for trouble and expecting it to happen....
In fact, the OLDEST FOSSILS we have unearthed have shown violence to each other. The Hypothalamus in the brains emotion center enables us as humans to experience intense joy, sadness, anger, rage and happiness. We have had to learn to CONTROL anger & rage or die out as a race.
TEN WAYS TO CATCH A LIAR! As you read these, those of you that have followed the Jodi Arias' Murder trial in Arizona will now know many answers as to why she lied so good! Fascinating,eh?
(1)There will be "inconsistencies" in what they say. Is the story just illogical to you..just doesn't "fit" WHAT YOU KNOW AS TRUE?
(2)ASK AN "UNEXPECTED" QUESTION THEY WOULD NOT BE "PREPARED"FOR. Only 4% of all people are pathological liars and you CAN trip a liar up with the unexpected.
(3)USE A PERSONALITY "BASELINE" TO DECIDE. Someone that is usually calm that starts sweating or looks anxious OR someone you know that is usually hyper or bubbly is suddenly sad or calm.
(4)LOOK FOR INSINCERE EMOTION! A genuine emotion such as a
smile takes only seconds to show on the face...a fake one can be held too long or lips tighten. Eyes can look angry but you are smiling....FAKE.
(5)PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR "GUT" REACTION TO SOMEONE!
sometimes called "women's intuition" or a "vibe" you get...on the surface you may be not sure BUT the brain has already registered caution.
(6)WATCH FOR "MICRO EXPRESSIONS!" Your brain is actually "seeing" micro expressions(25th of a second!) that is concealed emotion.
(7)LOOK FOR "CONTRADICTIONS"! (If their voice or gestures do not fit the words you hear)
(8)LOOK FOR A SENSE OF "UNEASE'! Little or no eye contact if they normally do have eye contact.....anxiety, sweating,etc.
9)TOO MUCH DETAIL IS GIVEN!! You ask a simple question and they list everything!
(10)DON'T IGNORE THE TRUTH (INSIDE THE LIE)!! Finding any truth in their lies can help you answer the question as to why they are lying!!
