DAN MARINO

Birge-Bytes: "...you who are without sin, cast the first stone...." (Biblical reference)  I have found that almost every problem we have today is "covered" by the Bible. Jesus taught in Parable-form which is comparing, giving examples and stories with a message. Is it MY job to judge others on this planet? NO, it is not. But, I still have my opinions and thoughts. I, also, taught school with many comparisons (50's and today's youth) and relevant examples. Hair styles, fashion, trends especially, all change continually century to century BUT not Character, Integrity and Honesty.

I have a signed Marino football...was he a great Quarterback?? I preferred Bob Griese, myself, but you better believe Dan
was a GREAT Quarterback and a very good Sportscaster who has done MANY good things for our community.I've lived here since 1962 and had a ten year season pass for the Dolphins (Perfect season era) Perhaps, we need to separate the person who plays a sport or makes a movie or Video from the Character and Integrity of the PERSON. It is possible to admire a persons skills and stop short of WORSHIPPING them!!

I saw a 20/20 episode on celebrities that said if a photographer gets a PICTURE OF THE SONOGRAM OF KIM KHARDASIANS FETUS it would be worth Millions of dollars! If they could get the first picture of William and Kate's
Royal baby (unborn or after) it would be worth up to 50 MILLION DOLLARS!!!. Please don't see this as "sour grapes"
by an educator that for 27 years always gave more than 40 hrs. a week for a whole lot less. It is not....it IS
dismay that we have gone this far with our ethics and morals. I taught Positive Thinking and Optimism so don't
say that I am just a negative person. It is reality.

America needs a "Faith Lift"!  Success measured merely by money is too cheap......I want to share a poem with you.

THE COLD WITHIN by James Patrick Kinney,1999 pub.by Dear Abby

Six humans trapped in happenstance
In dark and bitter cold,
Each one possessed a stick of wood
Or so the story's told.

Their dying fire in need of logs
The first woman held hers back,
For of the faces around the fire
She noticed one was black.

The next man looking across the way
Saw not one from his church,
And couldn't bring himself to give
The fire his stick of birch.

The third one sat in tattered clothes
He gave his coat a hitch,
Why should his log be put to use
To warm the idle rich!

The rich man just sat back and thought
Of the wealth he had in store,
And how to keep what he had earned
From the lazy, shiftless poor!

The black man's face bespoke revenge
As the fire passed from sight,
For all he saw in his stick of wood
Was a chance to spite the white!

The last man of this forlorn group
Did naught except for gain,
Giving only to those who gave
Was how he played the game!

The logs held tight in death's still hands
Was proof of human sin,
They didn't die from the cold without
They died from the "cold within!"

This says it all.  Mrs.B.
