GUNS

Birge-Bytes:  "When Jesus suffered, he did not threaten to get even; He left
His case in the hands of God"...1 Peter 2:23

After my Dad ended his life with a bullet I did not blame the bullet or the gun but the mental
state he was in at that time; depressed over losing so many of his abilities to age and Diabetes
his life had lost the "quality"it had always had.  While i understood him, as usual, intellectually,
I have never stopped missing him and hurting in my heart...that is a sign of loving someone else
and that they had impacted your life in much more profound way than just grief at their passing.
Yes, I couldn't look at even a picture of a GUN without crying for two years after. He had always
had that registered gun locked tightly in his closet for his duties as a reserve Policeman & I really
never actually saw it but once. I ALWAYS felt safe with my Dad.

My feelings on violence and guns? Just ask my children and my grandsons; I even hurt if anyone
else is hurting....NO, I am NOT against people that respect and train themselves with a firearm.
YES, I am 100% against assault rifles or any weapon except those used by a soldier in combat or a police responder in civilian lifeAutomatic weapons in the hands of someone deviant WILL kill more
people faster. Do I want TEACHERS to carry GUNS at school?? NO..(some of them are a tad
disturbed at times!) but a trained Resource officer or trained Specialist in Administration might have
stopped it sooner. He killed himself only when he heard the responders coming!

IF WE DON'T STOP ACTING SEPARATELY AS  "LABELS" WE GIVE OURSELVES AND START ACTING LIKE AMERICANS THAT LOVE OUR COUNTRY AND CHILDREN....
WHAT THE HELL DOES IT TAKE???  If 20 beautiful babies and 6 Heroes are not enough we
don't deserve our children!

WHY?

There is so much talk
About love and yet so little loving,
Much talk about peace
With neither side giving.

Afternoon portraits of family groups
Evening rendezvous the other  keeps,
Children kissing Mom goodbye...off
To test their values and strengths at school.

Wives together patting backs; gushing over
wives they wish they could avoid;
Just to further husband's chosen goals
So times together get even fewer still.

Oh, to be a child once more
To think the world is bright and true,
I wish I hadn't ever grown up
And gotten this way, too......
