ONE GENERATION AWAY

We have become desensitized to violence...Tolerance has run amok with wrong reasons and we "compile" a spiritual "buffet" of ideas that will FIT US and that we are comfortable following.
It takes only 100 years to erode truth and lose freedom, values, purpose.
A century is a good cycle by which to measure things that matter....
By then, "village gossip" has died down, whispers have been borne away
on the wind, wounds have been healed by the passage of the years.
A quiet anonymity settles over the errors in our lives and gradually fade,
forgotten, into the panoply of human frailty and common humanity.
The best example of these "cycles" is as close as our American history.
It happens in 3 stages: First:The immigrants that risked their lives to
break away from repression & cross unknown water to an unknown land;
Pilgrims took their faith VERY seriously...the Bible WAS ABSOLUTE TRUTH! Washington when sworn in to office had a 4 hour service to bless the new country. It was where we derived the strength to overcome all the odds we had to face. Stage 2: The next generation "ASSUMES"
that what he learns by those that go before is TRUTH! Stage 3: The generation following that starts to dilute their Faith by denial and saying
that is just what his "folks" believed...not relevant to my life...confusion and doubt & "substitutions" begin that "fit better! Take a little of this idea and a little of that theology. You can't "customize" Faith, people! L.Ron
Hubbard did exactly this "stealing" from past philosophers, past social science and came up with HIS "CUSTOMIZED" Scientology.
This has happened before in the last 2,000 years....after Moses led people with STRONG faith to follow him...Joshua took over after Moses died; then followed Saint Paul, Timothy etc. slowly diluting the messages
and the world went into the Middle and Dark Ages where NOTHING new
was produced for over 1400 years! It was a time of scattered beliefs,superstitions,magic,potions. We almost LOST Literacy in Science and Medicine....then "THE ENLIGHTENMENT PERIOD of the 1400's brought it back with TRUE science instead of spells and amulets; telescopes to create Astronomy instead of Astrology, etc.
Today, the Generation under 30 years old is at this impasse in history.
The Barna Group from Washington,D.C. recently gave out the facts
about the HUGE difference JUST IN THE LAST TEN YEARS:
1. 97% now have a negative view of Christianity.
2. 7 out of 10 "drop out" of church in late teens...not to return.
3. 80% under 30 form their own beliefs from other sources to suit their own taste..."Spiritual Buffet Shopping"...
4.50% of teenagers admitted Sexting.
5.There is a smaller percent of people attending church than ever in History/ commitment level lowest ever.
I experienced this myself teaching for 27 years in High School.
It broke my heart.
