A Teacher's Dream List!

Birge-Bytes:  "IF THIS WERE A PERFECT WORLD...FOR ME ANYWAY....

TEACHER'S DREAM LIST:

1. We would be valued at least as much as the average basketball player.

2. The Media would show respect for us instead of the blaring misdeeds of a few

3. We would "walk in everyone Else's shoes" to understand their challenges.

4. Parents would have a "realistic" idea of school today....not 20 years ago!

5. Parents would have taught their children the character traits of Honesty,Caring, and Empathy for others before we get them as teachers.

6. Parents would "practice what they preach" by EXAMPLE.

7. In our classrooms if a student "decides" not to work they could be REMOVED from the "privilege" to be in our class so another student who really
wants to learn or couldn't get in...could fill that seat. Of course, there would be a limit on how many students for obvious reasons...if you have too MANY of these cases....recheck your lesson plans & energize your course.

8. Our lesson plans would be considered IMPORTANT enough NOT to be
interrupted.

9. Midterms and Finals would carry more "weight" so students would have some
incentive to try to do well and not blow it off.

10. The "average" teacher that works so very hard would be recognized without
having to publish a book or create a "Major Reform Committee" of "rehashed ideas" that are already being taught!!

That is...if this were a Perfect World for me.

P.S. In 2011, I left behind a Glorious Career filled with love and respect. I wrote this list for  the WONDERFUL TEACHERS I most respected. Joan Billings,  Bonnie Lashbrook... Chris Tulley....my models.
