WHAT IS IT?

Birge-Bytes:  Getting older is NOT for sissies and neither is Faith.
The word CHURCH originated from the ancient Greek word "Kuriakon"
(doma) or Lord's House. It represents a building used for public Christian worship. A Church is considered the "body of Christ" on Earth.
It is where Christians can meet for Fellowship, Study and Comfort to each other. Can we worship God only there?...of course not! Does it have to have a 1 -1/2 hr. lecture? And MOST IMPORTANTLY, DO WE HAVE TO BE PERFECT TO GET IN?

Church is not a Museum for Saints!!! It is more of a "hospital for Christians". It is a building but like no other. It has bricks, lighting,
walls, ceilings, windows, carpeting, seating. It COULD BE USED FOR
FOR ALMOST ANYTHING even as shelter for storms & evacuations.

It does not have to have 100,000 members...a corner mall with 15 people
can be every bit as pleasing and Holy to Christ; or 5 people in a living room. ... "where three or more are gathered in His name...He is there!"
I am pretty sure He is not impressed with how many people are there but of the purity of their hearts for Him.

Jesus taught his parables on mountain sides and anywhere people gathered to learn. I surmise He might have been "DIS"pleased with excessive ornamentation and displays of wealth in His church while there were starving children just down the street! I remember the story of Him
actually  decimating a Temple where there were greedy money-changers
using the church for profit. It made Him furious!

I am an imperfect person in an imperfect world trying to be better.

I am a "perfectionist" that is NOT perfect!! Ouch! He only expects
persistence....NOT perfection. He expects us to love one another as He has shown us how to do.

I expect to try to do that with all my heart...

So, that is your answer to what a Church is....to be with God's people in His house on Earth. He comes to me anywhere I am seven days a week!

"Whatever things are true, whatever things are Honorable, whatever things are Just, whatever things are Pure,

whatever things are Lovely, whatever things are of good Report....think about these things."    Philippians ch.4
