HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF? WOW!

My Brain Decided: You are either the type of person that thinks the world is going to END April 23rd. with a Meteor OR the one that says "Step back with another perspective" and acknowledge the possibility that we are going through ANOTHER "Enlightenment Period???"

Let me clarify by comparison & conflict:

The Enlightenment Period ....(RELIGION VS. SCIENCE)
(1685-1780)

Early Players: Darwin, Galileo, Kepler,
Bacon,Hobbs, Descartes.
What happened?  In the span of 3 years Newton
published "Principia Mathematica"(1686 Calculus)
& Locke his "Essay Concerning Human
Understanding" (1689)providing new ideas
of Scientific, Mathematical and Philosophical
thinking...beginning the "Age of Reason"(!)

THEN......In 1784, Immanuel Kant (German) wrote his
Essay "What is Enlightenment?" saying DARE TO
KNOW! HAVE COURAGE TO USE YOUR OWN
  REASONING!!

This IDEA of Rational Questioning & belief in "Progress through
Dialogue" rapidly spread throughout the whole world, Civil and
Uncivil discussion whether in France, Germany, America, etc.etc.

IT WAS A CHAOS OF CLEAR IDEAS, as Voltaire summed it up! Also,
a time of Political wars between Frederick the Great & Austria;
revolutionaries like Thomas Paine and Thomas Jefferson with
their "Declaration of Independence"(1776)from the British Homeland.

HUGE religious AND Anti-religious ideas sprang up using new ideas
good and bad. Questions that the Universe doesn't NEED a God
for it to work...Denominations within Faiths split off when they differ-
ed...each in belief that "they" had all the answers necessary.

Politics and Religion collided when King Henry VIII sought multi wives &
split from the Church of England to ease his conscience. He was
what we would call "a player" today but with POWER & he used it.
(Not proud of this, by the way, as he is listed as my 14th Great Grand
Father thru marriage...maybe that is why I am overweight! HEY! JK
Secret groups sprang up: "FreeMasons", Bavarian "Illuminati",
"Rosicrucians".

ENDED: With the French Revolution (1789). Enlightened Rationality gave
way to a "Period of Terror" to attempt to restore previous thinking.
