FIRST OF ALL....BOTH ARE REAL!
I. Nicholas was a fourth century saint (year 260-333 AD) Saint Nicholas means "the People's Champion".
2. He was a Christian Bishop of the Church in Myra in the Roman Province of Lycia(modern day Turkey)Asia Minor during the rule of Emperor Constantine.
3. A crypt was finally built for him in 1089 at the Basilica di San Nicola in Bari, Italy on the Adriatic Coast.
4. MOST Sainthoods were from miracles and/or healings or a dramatic martyrdom (lions,etc)
5. He was and is one of the most popular non-biblical saints in the Pre-Modern Church; more Churches have been dedicated to him than any other except Mary, the mother of Jesus.
He exemplified the nature of Christ with his giving, kind heart. It is O.K. to let your children know
about the JOY this man spread and his love of children....we, of course, have taken it TOO FAR from its loving simplicity.
