In a recent post, I told you what could happen in just ONE GENERATION to our beliefs and values. Today, we are going to 1909
America....yes, only back 103 years.
(1) The Life Expectancy was: 47 years old.
(2) Only 14% of homes had a Bathtub; 8% of homes had ONE TELEPHONE!
(3) There were only 8,000 CARS in America and 144 miles of PAVED road...the Maximum speed limit? 10 MPH
(4) The average wage in 1909 was 22 cents an HOUR.
The average worker made between $200 and $400 a YEAR.
(5) 95% of ALL Births took place at HOME.
(6)90% of All DOCTORS had NO COLLEGE EDUCATION!
(7)Most women washed their hair once a MONTH & used Borax or Egg Yolks to do it.
(8) CANADA PASSED A LAW THAT BANNED POOR PEOPLE FROM ENTERING THEIR COUNTRY!!
(9) Only 6% of all Americans graduated High School; Two of every 10 adults could not read or write.
(10) There were about 230 reported MURDERS in the entire USA and 95% of the Taxes we have now did not exist in 1909!
P.S. Crossword puzzles, canned beer and iced tea had not been invented yet! o.k. Ready to return to 2012?! I am.
